What Biosphere actually does
A conventional pool manages chemistry. A Biosphere project manages a living water system — and the difference shows in the water, in the maintenance, and in how the project ages over time.
The mechanism depends on the form. In a Bio Swimming Pool, a hidden biological filter does what chlorine would have. In a Bio Swim Pond, the planted regeneration zone does the work. In a Swimming Lagoon, a more advanced engineered filtration train — biology, PhosPure™ phosphate control, and ECO-O3 ozone polishing — holds water clear enough to snorkel through. Three forms, one principle: the water is alive.
Pumps are German. Filtration is sized to the climate and the load. Maintenance is closer to gardening than to pool chemistry. Running costs are significantly lower than a conventional pool of the same size. And the water is soft enough that children find it gentle, and clean enough that fish live in it.
Three ways to swim
Same philosophy. Three very different experiences.

Bio Swim Ponds
Starting from ₹30 Lakhs.
A wild lake, brought home. Built without a concrete shell or steel — shaped into the land itself and sealed as a self-contained ecosystem. Natural stone edges, cascading water, planted margins, and a clear swim zone at the centre. The way a spring-fed pond would form if the land had its way.
Beyond the swim
One pool. Or an entire water landscape.
Most projects start with a single piece of water and grow from there. A cascade through the garden. A stream feeding the entry court. A koi pond by the verandah. A lake that becomes the centre of an entire estate.
Every Biosphere project can be built as a single feature or composed into a larger water landscape — designed and engineered as one continuous system.
What we build alongside the swim:
Pondless cascades and streams — moving water without a visible pool. Disappears into a hidden reservoir below grade, perfect for entry courts, courtyards, and gardens where children play.
Fountainscapes — sculptural water features that aerate, recirculate, and stand on their own as garden focal points. Stone, basalt, or custom-fabricated forms.
Decorative ponds with cascades — planted, koi-ready, and tuned for clarity. Built as a destination in their own right or as the visual heart of a garden.
Large decorative lakes — quarter-acre and above. Engineered for clarity, biodiversity, and longevity. The kind of water body that defines an estate.

How a Biosphere project begins
Before we draw, before we dig, before we quote.
-
New Construction Only: We design and build natural water ecosystems from the ground up. We don't retrofit chlorinated pools, and we don't convert ponds that weren't engineered for swimming. The biology and the hydraulics have to be planned together from the start.
-
Every project begins with an assessment: Before any drawing is made, we evaluate the site, the brief, and the budget against what the engineering actually requires. If the fit is right, we proceed. If it isn't, we say so.

Built by an unlikely team.
Biosphere was founded by a former Chartered Accountant who left private practice to build water ecosystems full-time. Today the studio is among India's few specialists in chemical-free swimming pools and natural water landscapes — featured on The Better India, and trusted on commissions for clients including Godrej Group.
We work on a small number of projects each year, by design.

Through biological filtration, scaled and engineered to the form. In a Bio Swimming Pool, a hidden biological filter does the work. In a Bio Swim Pond, a planted regeneration zone does it. In a Swimming Lagoon — where the load is higher and the water is shallower — a multi-stage filtration train backed by PhosPure™ phosphate control and ECO-O3 ozone polishing keeps the water clear enough to snorkel through. In all three, the result is water that's clear, balanced, and safe for skin, eyes, and aquatic life.
A Bio Swimming Pool looks like a conventional pool — tiled, structured, modern — but is filtered biologically. From ₹25 Lakhs.
A Bio Swim Pond looks like a natural body of water — stone edges, planted margins, cascading water — with a defined swim zone at the centre. From ₹30 Lakhs.
A Swimming Lagoon is a different category. Sand entry, crystal water, a colourful fish population, and an engineered filtration train designed to keep the water snorkel-clear year-round. From ₹80 Lakhs.

No. Biosphere builds new construction only. The engineering of a biological pool — substrate depth, regeneration zone sizing, hydraulic design — has to be planned from the ground up. Conversions don't perform the way a properly engineered system does.
Less chemistry, more gardening. You'll prune aquatic plants seasonally and clear the skimmers as you would on any pool. Because the system balances itself, the technical maintenance is generally lighter than a chlorinated pool — and the running cost is significantly lower.Swimming Lagoons, because of their fish population and filtration scope, run on an annual maintenance contract that we talk through during the assessment.
Yes. A meaningful share of our work is on developer-led residential communities, hospitality, and large estate projects, where water becomes a defining landscape element rather than a utility.
The opposite. Mosquitoes need still water; Biosphere systems are continuously moving and oxygenated, which prevents breeding. Dragonflies and other natural predators are typically attracted to the ecosystem, providing additional pest control.
Every project begins with a Project Assessment — a paid preliminary stage where we evaluate the site, brief, and budget against the engineering. If we proceed, the assessment fee is credited to the project.
